By using ORSOFT LabScheduling, laboratory planning is integrated into a company's production planning and quality inspection process. ORSOFT LabScheduling obtains all relevant data via an interface connection to the ERP system and any LIMS and stores them in a common database. Thanks to the same data situation, appropriate maintenance results not only in process-related integration but also in an alignment of laboratory planning with production planning in terms of timing. The planning of inspection lots thus has the same planning horizon as production planning and is enriched with the evaluations of the LIMS.
Simulated inspection lots
A unique feature is the simulated inspection lots generated by ORSOFT LabScheduling, which are created in advance as planned inspection lots based on the master and transaction data stored in the ERP system. These serve as a supplement to the original inspection lots and enable a long-, medium- and short-term capacity preview of the laboratories. In addition, the laboratory planning solution is not limited to displaying the status quo in order to identify capacity bottlenecks at an early stage, but also offers a wide range of options for eliminating these bottlenecks. Changes can first be simulated in the tool, with immediate effects shown in ORSOFT LabScheduling. Subsequently, the adjustments can be transferred if the planning result is considered satisfactory. Due to the constant communication via the interfaces and the persistent storage in a common database, the information is immediately available in the ERP system after processing. In the same way, all changes in the production planning program and their effects on laboratory planning, as well as feedback from the LIMS, are also immediately displayed in ORSOFT LabScheduling. Simultaneous laboratory and production planning is thus realized.
